Winthrop, fantaisie musicale / Winthrop’s Adventure ; an Eighteenth Century Singer
Écrite en 1874, cette nouvelle a connu deux versions et un nouveau développement sous le titre « La Voix maudite » (1887) et la réécriture de ce dernier sous le titre « A Wicked Voice » en 1889 (publié en 1890). Le même récit a également servi pour l'écriture de la pièce de théâtre Ariadne in Mantua (1899, publiée en 1903).
